Homework is set on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday.

This Term's Learning...

In Guided Reading and Literacy for the first half of term we are reading 'The Queen's Knickers'. The second half we will be reading 'Handa's Surprise' to link to our Science Topic.

​Our Topic question is 'What was it like when the queen came to the throne in 1953?​' We will be looking at the Queen's coronation, the Royal Family and also their residences. This topic will lend itself to lots of writing opportunities including a letter to the Queen!


In Science we are looking at keeping our bodies healthy. We will be looking at different fruits and vegetables and how they help us to be healthy. We will also be looking at our fa​vourite athletes and how everyone keeps fit in different ways.

Children will be focusing on Picasso during the Spring Term. They will be looking in to his blue period and then at how he creates unique portraits. Children will have the opportunity to create tints of colours and then create their own self portrait in the style of Picasso.


This first half term we will be looking at Judaism. Focusing on the topic question 'How important is it for Jewish people to do what God asks them to do?​'
For the second part of the term we will be looking at Islam and answer the question 'Does praying at regular intervals everyday help a Muslim in his/her everyday life?​'

Singapore Maths

Children will continue to develop their mathematical understanding through the Singapore Maths approach which has proved successful. 

 For the first half term we will be looking at Money and Time.

The second half term we will be studying length and weight.
